Diamond Build Group has joined The 5% Club, an industry-led initiative focussed on driving the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
Initiated in 2013 by Leo Quinn, Group CEO of Balfour Beatty, The 5% Club is a movement of more than 500 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities. The aim is to help people develop the skills and talents they need to become more employable and create meaningful careers.
As a member of The 5% Club, Diamond Build Group has committed to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to five per cent of its total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress.
John Gray, Chairman of Diamond Build Group, said: “Joining The 5% Club reflects our commitment to developing our people and providing opportunities to help strengthen careers in construction. We have provided traineeships and apprentices for 40 years, so becoming a member will cement what we’re already doing and ensure we keep building momentum.
“We currently have six apprentices working towards recognised qualifications in quantity surveying, IT, and accounting. Two will finish their training this year and continue to be part of our team helping us to expand our business. We want to build on this and recruit more apprentices in the coming year, including quantity surveyors, commercial managers, construction managers, carpenters and administrators.”
Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Diamond Build into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR professionals, sharing and learning from each other. All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people to develop meaningful career paths.”
