A Haringey library is benefiting from a new and improved interior thanks to a refurbishment delivered by Diamond Special Works.

Delivered on behalf of Haringey Council, the project saw Diamond Special Works team upgrade Wood Green Library for staff and the local community.

Office space has been refurbished and the whole of the third floor redecorated, including new furnishings. On the second floor, Diamond Special Works was responsible for new joinery, partitions and ceilings.

To improve heating and ventilation, a mechanical and electrical package has also been delivered, involving the installation, testing and commissioning of new air handling units and extractor fans.

The work was completed while the library remained open to the public.

David Lott, Senior Contracts Manager, said: “We phased the refurbishment to minimise any possible disruption to staff and members of the public. This saw us complete the work to the third floor within just six weeks before beginning work on floor two.

“We also put measures in place to make sure that the delivery and movement of materials didn’t interfere with the day-to-day running of the library, and that any noise or dust was minimised.

“This project has resulted in a more attractive and welcoming environment, which we’re sure will be widely welcomed by the library’s staff and visitors.”

Diamond Special Works has upgraded several libraries in recent years for local authorities in London, including Finsbury Library in Islington. The team is also refurbishing Alexandra Park Library for Haringey Council which is expected to be complete in early December 2022.
