We were appointed to complete fire safety installations at the occupied Hodgston Court flats. Located next to Northwick Park Hospital, Hodgson Court is made up of five medium-rise blocks and is the home for the Hospital’s student nurses, auxiliary staff and members of the police force.

As part of our appointment, we removed the original riser cupboards and to reinstate the fire integrity, a bespoke composite partition fire wall was built with a suitable fire tested door for access.

There was also a need to provide fire protection whilst allowing easy access to the services. To that end, a composite partition was built using timber stud, fire board, fire batt and fire mastic, where needed. To provide access to the services, a made to measure fire seal door was used to close the aperture and provide fire resistance.

New fire rated front entrance doors were also installed, together with fire signage. Because the block housed shift workers (student nurses, hospital auxiliary staff, police force staff), our programme had to be adapted accordingly. Our experienced RLO Team were also on hand to provide adequate communication, in particular for access arrangements. Out of hours work was undertaken in some instances to ensure that night shift workers would be accommodated.

This project formed part of our larger Network Homes Fire Safety Framework appointment (2017 – 2026), recently totalling over £20m.
