The Sparkford & Selworthy Houses, which form part of the Somerset Estate, each span 21 storeys and comprise a total of 160 homes. Our 26-week project involved external improvements to both buildings, including roof upgrades, the overhauling of windows, installation of new aluminium windows on the ground floors, and concrete and brick repairs to the façade. The scope of works also included internal decoration to common parts as well as the installation of suspended ceilings, lighting and door upgrades.
In addition, we worked with our roofing specialist to propose a new, maintenance-free design solution for the 32 perturbing balconies. We then installed “warm” balcony roofs with new asphalt which was designed to improve insulation. The majority of the works were completed at height, with extensive scaffolding required; therefore stringent management and safety measures formed part of our approach.
